Gone are the days when we believed that washing our pets is bad for them. Of course, it all depends on what products you use..
It goes without saying that washing your dog with a product which damages the skins fatty layer will of course cause harm. Which is why we use a special new type of products sraight from the 21st centruy on our beloved pets: "Nogga".
The only brand available in Europe which not only feeds and nourishes our dogs coat, but also their skin! Based on the same techniques that established skin care companies like Neutrogena, Clinique and Esteé Lauder to name a few brands for us humans.
We wash our puppies as of 6 weeks of age, we ensure to use an age appropriate product from Nogga which is the Kokum shampoo and Kokum balsam. These products are specially formulated to care for the young skin and to assist with the maturing of the skin and coat into adult skin and voluminous coat. We ensure to wash our babies weekly which helps them get used to what will be a large part of their maintenance routine for years to come.
Our adults get their own personalised care plan depending on their needs. Special colours like chocolate, require more maintenance usually than orange/cream colours. Tater Tot for example is washed weekly with Silver shampoo (to enhance and protect his beautiful chocolate colour) and then with the Olive balsam conditioner which hydrates and nourishes his skin. Whereas, orange sable Tida is washed every 3-4 weeks depending on how much she has been playing in muddy puddles!
We apply Nogga's legendary Biphasic spray weekly to our dogs coat as it protects them against the sun's harmful rays.
In spring and summer months we always take the Nogga Quassia spray with us on our walks to ensure the nasty fleas and ticks stay away! Quassia spray is safe to be used on animals of all ages which is great news for our young whippersnappers when they go on their first adventures!
Wash.
Using the right products for your pets skin and coat type, regular washing provides many benefits to the skin and coat. Such as hydration, nourishment and shine.
Dry.
Often forgotten, is drying. Drying your pet correctly is incredibly important. A failure to do can result in itching, skin problems and in the worst cases; baldness.
Brush.
Brushing your pet correctly is of the utmost importance. All loose hair and knots must be removed regularly from the coat.
Because we wash and hydrate our dogs coats using a regular and frequent maintenance and washing schedule we brush last. This is the least damaging to the coat as the coat after being washed is hydrated and strong. Think of the hair like a branch on a tree, when it is green (hydrated) it is hard to break, contrary to when it is dry and brittle.
If your pets coat is knotty, moulting or matted, we recommend to brush before washing.
